CENTRO CULTURAL DE MÚSICA is a non-proft private organization run by an honorary Board of Directors. It was founded in 1942 by a group of young Uruguayan musicians and music lovers with the aim of encouraging creativity as well as performing and promoting classical music in all its forms.
After almost eight decades of commitment and devotion, CCM is a leading presence in the country’s cultural life through its subscription series, community and educational projects.
CCM takes pride in its annual season of eight concerts presenting outstanding artists of the world, mainly symphonic or chamber orchestras, but also ballets, vocal and instrumental ensembles, trios, quartets, soloists and choirs. These events take place in the best concert halls of Montevideo, Teatro Solís or Auditorio Nacional del Sodre.
CCM works to create opportunities for young Uruguayan musicians to develop their talent granting scholarships and organizing masterclasses, workshops and conferences with world-class visiting artists.
CCM is honored to be the institutional partner for Uruguay of the Online Masterclasses of Maxim Vengerov.
Community outreach programs are an important part of CCM commitment to make classical music accessible and enjoyable to young audiences.
For the last fifteen years CCM has provided students and general public the opportunity to experience fine music through free midday concerts at Teatro Solís.
